November 3 – 6, 2026 · Malaga, Spain
Invitation to the 15th International Symposium on Concrete Roads
by Luc Rens, Technical Director of EUPAVE, Chair of the International Technical Programme Committee
For the third time, the concrete road industry’s leading event—held every four years—will be hosted in Spain. After Madrid (1990) and Seville (2010), the Symposium now comes to Málaga, in the sunny south of Andalusia.
From 3 al 6 de noviembre de 2026, Málaga will be the place to be for everyone interested in sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and discovering the latest research results and innovations in the field of concrete pavements, hydraulically bound base layers, and concrete safety barriers. This edition will place particular emphasis on heavy-duty pavements, including industrial platforms, port infrastructures, and airport pavements.
Beyond the technical programme, the Symposium offers a unique opportunity to connect with a wide international network of colleagues and experts. Whether through informal conversations, the exchange of ideas, or in-depth technical discussions, meaningful interaction is at the heart of the event. Sponsors and exhibitors will also be present to provide first-hand information on the latest products, technologies, and construction equipment.
The Symposium will be held under the motto “Building the future on resilient concrete pavements.” This theme reflects the strong commitment of the Spanish cement and concrete industry to modernising transport infrastructure and addressing future challenges. Concrete remains an ideal material for the construction of durable, heavy-duty, and climate-resilient roads. At the same time, the sector is firmly engaged in the path toward climate neutrality, as outlined in the Cement and Concrete Roadmap of CEMENT EUROPE and the national cement industries across Europe.
With around 100 abstracts submitted, the technical programme will cover a broad range of topics of interest, presented through lectures in technical sessions and poster presentations. For those who prefer hands-on experience, technical excursions to construction projects will offer valuable insights directly on site.
Finally, the Symposium will take place in the beautiful city of Málaga, a destination that perfectly combines history, culture, and Mediterranean lifestyle. From the Alcazaba fortress and the Roman Theatre to the Picasso Museum, vibrant old town, and seaside promenades, Málaga offers a rich cultural experience. Excellent gastronomy, mild autumn weather, and easy access to the Costa del Sol make it an ideal setting for both professional exchange and social enjoyment.
There are many reasons to join us. I am already looking forward to welcoming you and meeting you in Málaga.
See you in Málaga!
